As many of you are aware, at this time we are unable to continue our Lunch Ministry due to the health crisis. We want you to know that the good work we have done in collecting food items and purchasing food supplies has been put to good use. Unfortunately, we have no idea how long this social distancing will last, so we felt it best to help as many people as we can right now. This morning, officials from Rouquette Lodge came to St. Benedict’s to collect the dry goods from our pantry as well as the food from our Lunch Ministry’s freezers.
The residents at a few independent facilities, Rouquette Lodge (in Mandeville) and St. Teresa Villa (in Slidell), can no longer go out for groceries because the transportation services of the facilities had to be ended for their protection. While some get meals from the facility, most residents cook for themselves for at least two meals a day. The facilities are attempting to serve all resident's meals, but their food supplier is having difficulty supplying the increased demand. Rouquette Lodge is asking for assistance (see the attached list attached). If you are able to assist, please drop donations off at the Rouquette Lodge: 4300 LA-22, Mandeville, LA 70471.
