There will be a second collection at Mass on Christmas for various chaplaincies and archdiocesan ministries. This collection helps cover the salaries and expenses of Hospital and Hospice Chaplains, Chaplains at Nursing Homes and High Schools, and those involved in retreat ministries. We have already been assessed $10,500 for this. Please be generous.
Next weekend, the Third Sunday of Advent, is Bambinelli Sunday. The Roman Church tradition is to bring the baby Jesus (Bambinelli) from each of your Nativity sets at home, and place him in front of the altar before Mass. At the end of Mass there is a special blessing over the Bambinelli to then bring back to your home in preparation for our celebration of Christmas.
Mail bins have been placed at the entrance of the church to begin collecting your Christmas Cards for those in our community in Long Term Care, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Homes. Please include the “thoughts and prayers from the Parishioners of St. Benedict Parish” in your Christmas greeting/signature. Place your Christmas cards in the mail bins no later than Wednesday, Dec. 13th.
The Lunch Ministry is collecting canned vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, easy mac and cheese, and stuffing to place in our Annual Christmas Baskets. Please drop your non-perishables off at the Catechetical Center before December 19th.
