You will find a book in the back of the church to enroll your loved ones (living or deceased) in the Masses on Father’s Day weekend, June 17/18. This is an excellent way to remember your loved ones on this special day.
We are currently registering families for our Family Faith Formation 2023-2024 school year. Please return your registration form and payment before the registration deadline of June 12th. If you have a second grader (First Communion) or tenth grader (Confirmation) your child needs to complete sacramental preparation through the Parish. Please feel free to contact Corina if you have any questions or in need of a registration form at psr@stbencov.org
The Peter’s Pence Collection has ancient roots that reach all the way back to New Testament times. The early Christians provided material support that the disciples—those preaching the Gospel—could distribute to those in need. Today, the Peter’s Pence Collection is the way we, as members of the Catholic Church, unite ourselves to the concerns of the Holy Father. Donations to this collection support the charitable works of Pope Francis for the relief of those most in need. The second collection will be taken the weekend of May 27/28. Please be generous.
You will find a book in the back of the church to enroll your mother, godmother, and grandmothers (living or deceased) to be remembered at Masses on Mother’s Day weekend, May 13/14. This is an excellent way to remember your loved ones on this special day.
We are happy to announce that Roxanne Kilpatrick has been hired as our new part-time custodian. If you see her while on campus, please introduce yourself and say “hello”.
The crowning of the statue of the Blessed Mother inside the church will occur at the end of the First Communion Mass on Sunday, May 7th at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in the catechetical center.
As in the case with many pension funds in secular businesses today, the Archdiocese of New Orleans Priests’ Pension Program is underfunded. This is largely due to the growing number of retired priests, the skyrocketing cost of health care, and inflation. This collection is separate from the annual collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious, which supports religious orders and institutes across the United States. Please show your generosity next weekend, May 6/7. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BUILDING FUND SECOND COLLECTION FOR MAY WILL BE THE WEEKEND OF MAY 13/14, NOT THE FIRST WEEKEND OF THE MONTH.
The BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE is a group of parishioners who have volunteered to serve those who are experiencing the loss of a loved one by preparing a meal for the family who may be attending the funeral when the funeral is held at St. Benedict’s. We would like to update our list of volunteers who are willing to assist. We are asking anyone interested in assisting by preparing a dish for these meals to please sign-up (again) on the sheet in the back of the church. If you have any questions, please contact Lydia Gallo who coordinates the committee at 985-327-5013.
